Nomex fabrics for fire proof rubber hoses

Technofabric: Custom production of Nomex fabrics

Production of Nomex fabrics for fire proof rubber hoses

Nomex fabric is a material that consists of aramid fibers, which are synthetic polymers that DuPont invented in the 1960s. Nomex fabric can withstand high temperatures and flames, without burning, melting or dripping in the air. This makes Nomex fabric suitable for making protective clothing for various sectors that face thermal hazards, such as firefighters, industrial workers, military aviators, motosport pilots, hospital gowns, and others. Nomex fabric also helps to reduce environmental pollution, as it can filter out harmful exhaust gases in different industrial plants that deal with hot processes, such as asphalt, cement, steel smelting, and nonferrous metal production. Nomex fabric has a flexible and elastic structure, which gives it a similar feel to natural fabrics.

It also has a low shrinkage rate and can be dyed in various colors. Nomex fabric comes in different forms, such as paper, felt, woven, and fiber. The industrial processing of Nomex fabric requires several steps, depending on the form and the end use of the product. For example, to produce Nomex paper, the fibers are first dissolved in a solvent and then extruded into a thin film. The film is then dried and calendered to achieve the desired thickness and smoothness. The paper can then be cut into sheets or rolls for further applications. To produce Nomex felt, the fibers are first carded and cross-lapped to form a web. The web is then needled to interlock the fibers and increase the density. The felt can then be treated with various finishes to enhance its properties. To produce Nomex woven fabric, the fibers are first spun into yarns and then woven into different patterns and textures. The woven fabric can then be dyed, printed or embroidered with logos and symbols. To produce Nomex fiber, the fibers are first cut into short lengths and then crimped to increase their bulkiness. The fiber can then be used for filling or blending with other fibers.

Rubber hoses manufactured from Nomex for the industrial market are flexible hoses that take advantage of the properties of Nomex meta-aramid yarn, which is heat and flame resistant. These hoses are suitable for applications where thermal, electrical, or chemical insulation is required, such as the suction and passage of air, water, or oil in industrial production environments where intense heat is worked.

Nomex rubber hoses are produced by following different stages, depending on the type of hose and its intended use.

  • Development: tubes are designed and manufactured according to customer specifications and insulation and protection requirements.
  • Weaving: modern and versatile machinery is used to weave Nomex yarns, both raw and dyed, with different structures and weights.
  • Finishing: specific surface treatments and finishes are carried out on Nomex tubes, such as resin coating, silicone coating, fluorocarbon coating, calendering, thermofixing, and digital printing.
  • Quality control: we subject Nomex pipes to rigorous quality controls, both during and after production, to ensure compliance with regulations and customer expectations.

Some technical characteristics of Nomex rubber hoses are:

They do not burn in the air like cotton, nor do they melt by dripping like polyester.

Nomex rubber hoese have excellent thermal insulation and good abrasion resistance.

Rubber hoses in Nomex fabric have excellent thermal insulation and good abrasion resistance.

They are resistant to weak alkalis, but not to strong ones.

Nomex rubber hoses are used in various industries where protection from heat and flame is required. In the metallurgical industry, for the passage of compressed air, hot water, cooling water and exhaust gases. In the electromechanical and automotive industries, for electrical insulation of connections, wiring, terminals, transformers, motors and generators. In the aerospace industry, for the interior lining of aircraft and spacecraft. And also in the chemical industry, for protective suits and filters.

Nomex is a special fabric that resists heat and flames without melting, dripping or burning in the air. It is used to create protective clothing for various industries, such as racing, firefighters, military, industrial workers and others. Nomex is also used for industrial applications such as filters, conveyor belts, rubber membranes, thermal blankets, and loudspeakers. Nomex has characteristics similar to natural fabrics, such as low stiffness, high stretchability, low shrinkability, and the ability to be dyed. Nomex is produced and sold in different forms, such as paper, felt, fabric, and fiber.
